How Social Media Affects the English Language
Social media is a very important part of most of our lives. Most of us cannot go a day without the usage of social media. Hence, social media has a profound impact on all our lives and day to day communication.
Most advertisements these days are in the English language. Hence, knowing the language is important to understanding the ads. It also helps us keep track of the current trends on social media, because they too are in English.

Trying to reach out to a mass audience also requires English. If you are a social media influencer, or just want to reach out to a group of people, a common language that everyone understands is preferred. English, being a global language helps in talking to a mass.
By being on social media regularly, one is exposed to a lot of media throughout the day. This helps improve one’s vocabulary and grammar. The more practice, the better. Social media has its own language, or “slang” as we call it. It is basically a shortened version of a few words in the English language. Hence, social media also affects the generations vocabulary as we know it.
If we were communicating to a new person on social media, English leaves the listener with a good impression. If the person is from another region or country, then again, a common language, English, is required.
Consider streaming sites like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Apart from most of the shows/movies being in English, shows/movies in other languages have subtitles in English guaranteed. Even if you did not know the language the show or movie is in, if you know the English language, you will be able to understand.
Social media is a good place to learn and grow. You can meet new people here and find new interests and hobbies. As stated above, you can also learn more about topics you knew about. Social media, used the right way, can act as a boon. We must take only the positives from this form of media.
